What is WhatsOnVideo?

A simple guide to good videos on YouTube. Pick a subject, pick a shelf, tap a video, and it plays right here in YouTube's own player. The goal is to have you watching in about fifteen seconds, without endless scrolling.

Is it free?

Yes. There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no subscriptions. Every video is free to watch on YouTube.

How are the stars worked out?

From public numbers, not reviews, and never from how big a channel is. Each video is scored on three things: how far it reached for the size of its channel, how many viewers liked it, and how many talked about it in the comments. Only videos with two stars or more are listed. The guide 'How the stars work' has the details.

Are the movies legal?

Yes. We only list full-length movies uploaded by official distributors (YouTube content partners) or films that are in the public domain. We never list anonymous uploads with disguised titles.

Are the music videos official?

Yes. Every music video comes from the artist's, label's or orchestra's own channel. We leave out auto-generated audio-only tracks.

How often is it updated?

Every Monday morning. New videos from the channels we follow are scanned, scored, and the best land on each page's 'Fresh this month' shelf.

Does watching here help the creator?

Yes. Videos play in YouTube's own player, so every view counts for the channel that made it, the same as watching on YouTube.

Do you track me?

No. Your 'Watched' marks and 'Recently watched' row are stored only in your own browser, on your device. We don't use accounts, ad cookies or trackers. See the Privacy page.
